Appointment of Admiral Sir George Zambellas as Astraius Chairman

Washington DC, USA— October 10, 2020 —ASTRAIUS has appointed the former First Sea Lord and Head of the British Royal Navy, Admiral Sir George Zambellas, as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Admiral Sir George Zambellas is a highly distinguished former head of the Royal Navy, with an exemplary background in maritime, joint service and multinational command. Zambellas adds to his considerable military experience with his successful roles in an inter-related tech portfolio, of robotics, encryption and data security, cyber security and the utilization of AI in improved management performance, and in data monetization with his roles as Chairman for Cobweb Cyber, Agorai and Galaxkey.

ASTRAIUS is the first U.K. commercially operated horizontal launch capability for small to medium-size satellites. Based in Scotland, ASTRAIUS’ unique position is the culmination of its international management team’s decades of experience, encompassing U.K. and U.S. governmental engagement, commercial and military space launches, and satellite operations. ASTRAIUS’ launch capability is weather and location agnostic. It will deliver small and mid-size satellites to any inclination in Low Earth Orbit.
ABOUT SIR GEORGE ZAMBELLAS
Admiral Sir George Zambellas, as Chief of the Royal Navy, delivered global military capabilities from within a complex multinational political-industrial environment. An aerospace engineer by training, he is now established as a founder, director or advisor to key U.S. and U.K.-based technology companies.
Sir George Zambellas was educated in Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), and at Stowe School. He studied aeronautical and astronautical engineering at the University of Southampton and graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science (BSc Hons) degree.
Sir George is a highly decorated military leader. He was appointed Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Bath (GCB) in 2015 and made Knight Commander of the Order of Bath (KCB) in 2012. He won the Distinguished Service Cross and Operational Service Medal for his actions in Sierra Leone in 2000. He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
